Mersing, August 10, 2024 – The annual beach cleanup, co-organized by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Austin Perdana, Gemilang Coachwork Sdn Bhd, and JCI Bandar Kluang, took place successfully at Mersing Beach, drawing 80 participants with the shared goal of promoting marine environmental protection.
During the event, participants collected a total of 2.7 tons of waste, including discarded fishing nets, plastic debris, and abandoned tires. This effort not only restored the beach's natural beauty but also contributed to safeguarding the local marine ecosystem.
Alston Ung, President of JCI Austin Perdana, emphasized the importance of the event: “This cleanup is about more than just restoring the beach—it’s about raising awareness of the need for marine conservation. The ocean is a shared resource for all humanity, and it’s everyone’s responsibility to protect it.”
The organizers urged the public to remain committed to marine conservation and pledged to continue hosting similar environmental initiatives. The event was supported by YB Kan Pei Ying and sponsored by Gemilang Coachwork Sdn Bhd. The co-organizers aim to keep promoting environmental awareness and encouraging wider participation in efforts to protect the ocean.
