Today, let’s speak with Gemilang Warehouse Senior Executive Vu Duy An, a 45-year-old Vietnamese who has been working here for almost 20 years!
Initially joining the company as a warehouse clerk, An said that Gemilang recognized his desire to work hard and willingness to learn everything. After a few promotions throughout the years, he now manages warehouse operations to ensure that the right parts and products are delivered to the right locations on time, and supervises a team of warehouse assistants to ensure that the company’s daily functions and inventories are running efficiently.
“They treat us all the same no matter where we are from,” says An, who explained that his department is mostly made up of local Malays, as well as foreigners from Myanmar and Nepal. “Everyone here is very kind, ready to help each other if we don’t understand or need something.”
An adds that he has no plans to return to his home country, and intends to work here for as long as he can. Instead, An mentioned that he used to fly his family over to Malaysia once every month before the pandemic happened. Now that the borders have reopened, he is excited to spend time with his family here again in his second home on a regular basis.
